Mount Olives Church of God is a new 10,000-square-foot sanctuary and ministry project in Kissimmee, Florida. The design brings together worship, fellowship, classrooms, offices and support spaces within a compact building conceived to serve the congregation throughout the week.
The project pairs the familiar language of a brick sanctuary, pitched roof and steeple with a contemporary glazed fellowship wing. The result is a church that feels rooted and recognizable while opening itself more directly to the community.
The sanctuary is organized around a direct relationship between congregation and platform. Tall pointed windows establish the room's vertical rhythm while bringing controlled daylight deep into the worship space.
Exposed dark roof framing, a restrained material palette and flexible seating give the sanctuary a strong identity without limiting how the church can use the room over time.

The sanctuary mass uses brick, a tall gabled roof and a white steeple to create a strong ecclesiastical identity. Alongside it, the fellowship wing shifts to a lower, more horizontal expression defined by glass, slender vertical framing and a deep roof edge.
This contrast helps make the building legible: the sanctuary reads as the spiritual center, while the transparent community wing signals activity, hospitality and connection.
Paper Plane Architecture was introduced to Mount Olives Church of God through the pastor of the Gospel of the Kingdom project in Kissimmee. The new commission reflects the kind of relationship the practice values most: one congregation recommending the team to another after experiencing the design process firsthand.
For the website, this is a useful story because it shows continuity of trust within the same community rather than presenting the project as an isolated commission.
The $3 million project is currently in the Construction Documents phase. Paper Plane Architecture is developing the design toward a coordinated construction set for the new Mount Olives Church of God sanctuary and ministry facility in Kissimmee, Florida.
