Paper Plane Architecture designed the second-floor renovation connecting 104 and 108 Delancey Street, allowing both buildings to support Mount Sinai Doctors as a more cohesive medical facility. The work centered on the renovation of the second floor at 108 Delancey Street, targeted improvements within 104 Delancey Street, and the architectural connection between the two existing buildings.

The project required the careful coordination of two adjoining existing structures while maintaining the operational needs of a contemporary healthcare setting. The architectural work focused on creating a logical transition between 104 and 108 Delancey while giving the renovated second floor a consistent material and spatial language.

Exam rooms, treatment areas, circulation, millwork, lighting, finishes and medical equipment locations were coordinated as part of an efficient, durable clinical environment designed around staff workflow and patient use.

The renovated clinical rooms balance equipment requirements with patient comfort and staff access. Integrated casework, sinks, wall-mounted diagnostic equipment, work surfaces and lighting are organized within a restrained palette suited to an active outpatient setting.

Where exterior glazing was available, treatment rooms take advantage of natural light while maintaining a calm, professional interior character.

Design Language

Quiet, precise and intentionally understated.

Dark wood-grain millwork, warm neutral wall finishes and simple ceiling systems create visual continuity throughout the renovated areas. The palette supports the technical requirements of the medical environment without allowing the space to feel overly institutional.
