Project Overview

A COMPLETE
MEDICAL
PROGRAM.

Paper Plane Architecture designed 108 Delancey Street for Mount Sinai Doctors as a multi-level outpatient facility that balances patient experience, clinical operations, and the constraints of a narrow Manhattan building. The ground floor handles arrival, reception, restrooms, and support offices; floors two through six are organized as repeatable clinical levels with exam rooms, staff work areas, labs, storage, offices, and support spaces.

Patient Experience

ARRIVAL
WITHOUT
CONFUSION.

The ground floor is designed around a direct and understandable patient sequence: enter, check in, wait, and move toward care. Reception, seating, restrooms, circulation, and support functions are arranged so the public-facing floor feels calm and efficient rather than compressed.

01Visible reception
The check-in point is immediately legible upon arrival.
02Integrated waiting
Seating is embedded into circulation without obstructing movement.
03Quiet material palette
Neutral finishes, light flooring, warm wood, and blue seating support a professional healthcare environment.

PATIENT-FACING
SPACES WITH
PURPOSE.

The strength of the public spaces is restraint. Rather than rely on decorative gestures, the design uses clarity, proportion, lighting, durable finishes, and consistent detailing to support the experience of care.

TWO CLINICS.
ONE LINK.

The second floor of 108 Delancey Street connects directly to Mount Sinai Doctors' adjacent clinic at 104 Delancey Street. Paper Plane Architecture prepared the connection drawings for the new opening, allowing the two healthcare facilities to operate with a direct physical relationship.

A CLINIC
SHAPED BY
MANHATTAN.

The narrow site and extensive glazing create a strong connection to the city. Upper-level clinical spaces receive daylight and long views—an uncommon quality in many compact outpatient environments.

Compact footprint.
Full medical program.

What makes 108 Delancey significant is the coordination of many recurring clinical requirements into one coherent vertical system: exam rooms, staff work areas, labs, storage, offices, restrooms, public circulation, and the physical connection to a neighboring Mount Sinai clinic.

Healthcare Capability

WHAT THIS PROJECT
DEMONSTRATES.

For prospective healthcare clients, this project is less about a single image and more about the breadth of coordination required to make an outpatient facility function across multiple levels.

01

Clinical Planning

Repeatable exam-room and support-space planning across five outpatient floors.

02

Patient Experience

Clear arrival, waiting, reception, circulation, and wayfinding within a compact footprint.

03

Operational Coordination

Integration of M/A stations, lab areas, office functions, storage, restrooms, and support spaces.

04

Urban Complexity

Healthcare delivery within a narrow Manhattan building plus a direct second-floor connection to an adjacent clinic.

HEALTHCARE
THAT WORKS
