Paper Plane Architecture developed this 18,000-square-foot expansion study to support the existing sanctuary with a new generation of spaces for education, fellowship, recreation, administration, and community life.
Rather than treating the expansion as a collection of separate rooms, the concept organizes the church's evolving program around clear circulation, shared gathering spaces, and a strong relationship to the existing sanctuary.
The study draws upon years of experience with faith-based facilities facing similar challenges: growing ministries, changing programs, limited resources, and the need to make today's decisions without compromising tomorrow's possibilities.
The architecture establishes a contemporary identity for the expansion while retaining the permanence and familiarity expected of a church campus. Brick, light masonry, generous glazing, a clearly defined entrance, and an integrated cross create a recognizable civic presence without becoming overly monumental.
The plan brings together sanctuary support, fellowship, classrooms, offices, circulation, and gathering areas into a cohesive whole. The intent is not simply to add square footage, but to create a flexible framework that can support worship, education, community events, and ministry throughout the week.
The result is more than an addition. It is a framework for the church's next chapter.
