Connection to the Field

A durable new home for student athletics—designed to support teams, strengthen community identity, and deliver long-term value for Trousdale County Schools.
The District needed more than a replacement field house. It needed a place that could support student development, daily training, team operations, school pride, and the community that gathers around its athletes.

Trousdale County Schools set out to create a field house capable of supporting a growing student-athlete program while remaining realistic about cost, maintenance, and long-term operation.
Paper Plane Architecture concentrated the program under one efficient roof, organized training, locker, coaching, storage, concession, restroom, and public functions around a clear circulation system, and extended the improvement into the site with new parking and campus access.

A compact organization places training at the center and surrounds it with the support spaces teams rely on every day.
Robust finishes and straightforward assemblies were selected for high-use athletic environments and easier upkeep.
Teams, coaches, visitors, equipment, concessions, and public restroom functions can operate without unnecessary conflict.
Locker, storage, coaching, training, and public areas work together as one adaptable operational system.
Color, signage, trophies, and the Yellow Jackets mascot turn a functional building into a place the community recognizes as its own.
The high-bay weight and training room anchors the facility and opens directly toward the field. Locker rooms, coaches' areas, storage, concessions, public restrooms, and the trophy corridor are organized around the core, while new parking and site work complete the campus improvement.

Locker environments support daily routines while reinforcing school colors, pride, and a shared sense of belonging.

Dedicated equipment and uniform storage keeps the athletic program organized and ready for a demanding season.

The trophy hall makes team achievement visible and connects current students to the legacy they inherit.
The illuminated Yellow Jackets mascot, school colors, trophy display, and field-facing presence turn the complex into more than a support building. It becomes a recognizable symbol of athletics, student effort, and community investment.

The completed complex gives Trousdale County Schools an efficient, recognizable, and highly functional athletic facility. It supports training and team operations, strengthens the arrival and field experience, expands site capacity, and gives students a place they can be proud to represent.
