A bright home for early learning.

Wish on a Star Daycare is a 5,500-square-foot childcare center in Brooklyn, New York, designed for children ages 2.5 to 5.

Paper Plane Architecture shaped a bright, welcoming environment for early learning and play — three classrooms, a multi-purpose room, offices, a break room, and children’s restrooms all scaled for little ones.

Warm wood-look floors, cheerful accent walls, and durable, easy-care finishes make it a comfortable, safe place for children to spend their day.

The Classrooms

A different color for every room.

Each classroom has its own cheerful identity — soft lilac, fresh green, and sky teal — paired with warm flooring and bright, even lighting.

The colors help children recognize their own space, while a painted geometric mural — shown below — gives the playroom a bright focal point that sparks imagination.

Beyond the classrooms, the center includes a kitchen and prep area, child-scaled restrooms, offices, and storage — each detailed for a busy childcare setting.

Little touches matter: low sinks and toilets, rounded and washable surfaces, and clear, safe circulation throughout.

Classrooms line a central corridor for clear sightlines and easy supervision, with the multi-purpose room, offices, and restrooms grouped for convenient daily use. A portion of the building was outside the project’s scope of work.
