The Challenge

A deteriorated track, and a school that couldn’t pause.

Morgan County High School’s existing track and field had deteriorated to the point of needing full replacement. The district needed a safe, durable, competition-ready facility — but the work had to happen without disrupting a school in session.

  • Deteriorated existing track and field surface
  • Inadequate site drainage
  • Need for a competition-ready, code-compliant facility
  • Work had to fit the district’s budget and calendar

The Decision

Rebuild it right — and build it around the school year.

Paper Plane assessed the existing conditions, then designed a full replacement: a new synthetic running track, improved site drainage, enhanced field performance, and integrated school branding. The delivery was scheduled around the calendar so construction fell in the summer break.

Good construction documents create good projects — but good construction administration protects the owner’s investment. Paper Plane stayed actively involved through site observations, contractor coordination, submittal review, pay applications, and change-order evaluation, verifying the finished work reflected the design intent.

  • New synthetic running track
  • Improved site drainage
  • Enhanced field performance
  • School branding integration
  • Long-term durability
  • Minimal impact to campus operations

The Outcome

A competition-ready facility, ready before the first bell.

The completed rehabilitation restored a safe, durable, competition-ready athletic facility — consistent with the district’s goals and budget. Because construction occurred during summer break, the campus stayed 100% operational and the facility was ready for student use before the new school year.

The project was delivered for $430,000 with nine site visits and zero change orders — and its success strengthened Paper Plane’s relationship with Morgan County School District, leading to additional opportunities on future campus improvements.

On time. On budget.
Zero change orders.

Delivered over one summer — nine site visits, zero change orders, and a campus that never stopped operating.
